Research Ideas

Because I am an Australian citizen, I want to research an artifact from Australia, and the ANZAC(Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) tradition. The choices are almost limitless, and with whatever artifact I chose, I can actually also tie in the Cultural significance of it as well. Although the australians did fight in World War II, they remember ANZAC day as the day that the Gallipoli campaign began, April 25th. Because of this tradition, many of the military commemorative artifacts are geared towards Gallipoli, whereas the other large wars that Australia also took place in get overlooked.
So there are a million things I could look at and research:
Images
Movies (Gallipoli, 1981)
Propoganda
Newspapers
Historical Documents
Guns, cannons, warships, uniforms, etc.

All of these things would be particularly helpful with uncovering the true meaning behind what Gallipoli means to the Australian people. There are even songs. And for no reason could I not use a multitude of these different things to talk about the single event of the Gallipoli Campaign as the artifact. I just have not decided yet and will look into it further, and talk with my TA about whether I can do that.
